Haryana Schools: As per the latest updates, Haryana Government has reopened the schools in a phased manner from today, 16th July 2021. The schools have reopened for classes 9th to 12th. Although, attendance is not mandatory and schools have been advised to follow social distancing protocols. All the SOPs and COVID-19 appropriate behaviour has to be ensured in the schools.
While most of the schools have welcomed the decision, not many private schools have implemented it. The private schools in Gurgaon and Faridabad are careful and many have deferred reopening for now. All the school were closed and early summer vacations were announced. However, with declining cases, the Haryana Government decided to reopen the schools.
Private Schools Defer Reopening
For most of the private top schools in Gurgaon as well as Faridabad, the authorities have shared the letter of consent and are awaiting response from parents for an eventual reopening of physical classes. Till then, the standard procedure, online classes are being conducted. As per reports, a teacher shared that there are many concerns and reopening schools at present is not decided. Teachers are expected to be called to school from next week but the students not before August. Authorities have raised concern over the third wave and the fear among parents.
A DPS teacher told that “For now online classes would continue. We are trying to assess if all teachers have been fully vaccinated and also the parents of the students. School has also reached out to parents to understand what they are expecting, and decision would be taken as per the reply.”
Parent’s Response to Reopening of Schools
For parents too, there is no rush to send kids back to school. “I am comfortable with the online classes. The cases are not really decreasing, and vaccination is also not complete. Even if the school insists, I am not going to send my child to school just yet,” shared a parent of two boys in classes 6 and 10. Another parent raised similar concerns. “We were sent a form and I have voted against reopening of schools. Kids are in greater danger in third wave…why risk?” a parent of students studying in class 11.
Decision To Reopen Schools in Haryana
Earlier, the Chief Minister Office of Haryana has made the announcement on its official Twitter handle. The tweet reads, “Haryana government has decided to open all the schools in the state for classes 9 to 12 from July 16 and for classes 6 to 8 from July 23.” The decision to reopen the educational institutes was taken after Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar who said that plan should be made to reopen the educational institutions subject to the strict adherence of the COVID-19 protocols.
